Sky TV to cover Britain’s richest match fishing contest

IN ANOTHER TV boost for angling, Sky Sports have confirmed they will be covering the 2014 Match This finals - Britain's richest match fishing event.

The Match This event, which attracts the cream of UK match fishing anglers who compete in qualifiers around the country, has a minimum first place prize of £50,000, making it the biggest jackpot.

The final takes place on the prolific Match lake at Maver Larford lakes on Saturday 30^th August and will be shown on Sky in the autumn. Competing are some of the top names including former Fish O Mania winner Jamie Hughes, who is a former Angler’s Mail Matchman of the Year, and bloggers for this Angler’s Mail website – Darren Cox and Lee Kerry.

The event will covered by the Sky Sports Tight Lines team, and this year will once again have its own one-hour long show broadcasting the highlights of the finals in the autumn.

The programme will be presented by well known angler and tv pundit Rob Hughes, who also presents the BCAC and UK Champs events and appears as a reporter at Fish ‘O’ Mania for Sky.

Mega Match This is at the top of everyone’s list of events to win, and it’s a pleasure to come along, record history, and also to witness an amazing and exciting event in progress.”

Event organizer Phil Briscoe added: “We’ve worked hard with the Match This concept which has become a major event in the angling calendar and it’s encouraging to see that Sky recognise this and are covering the event again for us in 2014. It’s a big prize that brings along with it a lot of credibility, and the fact that it will be on television adds a further dimension for both competitors and spectators alike”.
